Seattle is home to a multitude of potent artists in the folkloric and popular Cuban dance and music genres.  Much of the fruit of their artistry has been out of sight to the general public, taking place in clubs, community centers, and living rooms.  With generous support from the Office of Arts and Culture, many of these artists have come together for a one time review of Cuban music and dance genres that have gradually taken root in our city, spanning ancient Afro-Cuban folklore to modern club music.

This performance will feature Jose Carrión, former lead dancer/ choreographer with internationally touring Cuban dance troupe, Cutumba, local dance legend, Maiensy Sanchez of Camagüey, Cuba, Pedro Vargas, former percussionist with Buena Vista Social Club artist Barbarito Torres, Michael Spiro, Grammy-nominated recording artist, educator, and percussionist with San Francisco’s La Moderna Tradición; Carlos Cascante of Tumbao and Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Elspeth Savani and Miguel Muñoz of Orchestra Zarabanda, and many more.

This show is hosted by Elspeth Savani of longtime Triple Door fave Orchestra Zarabanda / Yerbabuena.
